Front bed cap replacement
I've got a 1984 long bed, and its front bed cap (is that the correct term?) has been pushed forward toward the cab. From the LMC diagram, it appears that this front just bolts onto the rest of the bed???
How hard is it to change the front of the bed out? Would I have to remove the entire bed or could I just jack it up a few inches to get to the lower bolts? Thanks, John |

Re: Front bed cap replacement
You'll need to remove most the bed side bolts as well (the ones going to the floor), in order to slide them out of the way enough to get the front panel out and new one back in.

Re: Front bed cap replacement
So, the bed will not have to be totally removed from the truck? Thanks for your help.
Did you have to do this same replacement to your truck? |

Re: Front bed cap replacement
I just removed the bed sides from my 87 you should be able to access all bolts with out removing the bed. Wether or not you can remove and replace the head panel I have no idea.
There is one way to find out for sure.... Good luck |

Re: Front bed cap replacement
Check Mar-K. They have free shipping and freight every once in a while. Shipping for those isn't cheap because they are big and much heavier than you'd think. They stepside front bed panel I got for mine was around $115 or so shipped from them.
http://www.mar-k.com/ And yes, it is just a handful of bolts. If you don't have a 1/2" Gearwrench, go ahead and get one now. ![]()
