Can I lower a 4WD K5 for drag racing?

I know it's stupid question, but I really am curious. My intentions are to build a 4WD drag truck. I want to know if I can flip the front axle like the rear(to the other side of the springs). What problems may come from that?
I tried converting this truck to 2wd, but the frame was bent where the 2wd crossmember mounts, so it couldn't be installed correctly. It drove fine as a 4WD Blazer though.
Another thought was to just leave it in it's stock configuration and just throw slicks on all 4 wheels. But I want it to look normal and almost stock 2wd height so nobody will think anything of it. We usually race at legal events on closed roads or an airstrip, so he who has traction wins the race. The AWD cars and trucks usually come out on top. I'm open to any ideas or advice.

The short answer is no. The more complicated answer is anything can be done with enough time, money, and determination.

The first problem you will encounter with the flip plan is the front springs are almost flat. They don't have enough arch to go under the axle. Lets say you went to a different spring an cleared the first hurdle. Next issue would be steering linkage is not going to work. Take a look under there and see for yourself.

Re: Can I lower a 4WD K5 for drag racing?

The truck you're thinking of is probably Ms.Misery driven by Bobby Dodril. That was a high dollar/high quality build. That was my initial inspiration for trying this.
I think I'm just gonna leave it at stock suspension height and just do a body drop to make it look like a 2wd truck. I can always mod the steering shaft or go rack&pinion if I have to.

Haha...you posted that link while I was typing.

Re: Can I lower a 4WD K5 for drag racing?

There was another one a few years back that wasn't a high dollar truck. It was a 4wd Blazer I believe it was called The Hulk. He eventually was running slicks on the rear with small front tires.
