Where to look for a Build Sheet

Just bought a '72 truck built in late March of '72 in St. Louis (CCE142Sxxxxxx) I need to know where others have found build sheets. Behind the seat springs, below carpet pad??????

Mine was under the carpet pad. Built in Fremont California.

My 68 had it between the springs and pad of the seat back.

Re: Where to look for a Build Sheet

I believe I've heard of them being found under the gas tank cardboard cover as well, but am not 100% sure on that.

Re: Where to look for a Build Sheet

One more spot on some is up over the heater or in that area. But on a 40+ year old rig you can expect most of the spots to have been worked on at one time or another and the build sheets lost because the person working on the truck didn't put them back or they got destroyed in the process. My truck was pretty much original when I got it an my uncle had had it for over 20 years before that and I haven't found a build sheet yet.

Re: Where to look for a Build Sheet

Mine was also behind the seat back. Came out in pretty good condition. As you can see, not a very heavily optioned truck.

Re: Where to look for a Build Sheet

I have only seen build sheets in trucks we have parted that were built in Fremont, CA. Not to say other plants didn't put them in the trucks, I just have seen them in CA built trucks.

Re: Where to look for a Build Sheet

My longhorn is a baltimore truck and has the buildsheet. I think it was in the springs on the seat bottom (PO found it, not me)
