Control Module Question
I bought a 1995 C/K Truck set of manuals for my 1995 Tahoe. My truck is a 5.7L 4L60E. In the Drivability, Emissions, and Electrical Diagnosis Manual it says I should have a Power Control Module (PCM). Only the 5.7L Manual Transmission should have an Engine Control Module (ECM). I've looked at my control module and it matches the picture of the ECM, not the PCM. Prom is under a cover at the back of the module (ECM diagram) not the middle of the module (PCM diagram). It's part number is 16197427. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Should I have bought a 94 set of manuals?

Re: Control Module Question
thnx Chev.
On closer inspection, I see in the manual that the proms look different between the ECM and PCM. Mine matches the PCM, but the case looks more like the ECM. Mine must be the PCM since the connector pin count matches and it also has the auto transmission harness, while the pin outs of the ECM don't have tranny stuff. I see my part # 16197427 called both an ECM and a PCM all over the net. My GM manual specifically differentiates PCM from ECM. |
