Task Force ('55.2) "Door Seal Retainer" - Need Photo

I've gotten my door seals and pulled out the old, hard ones. They were the type with the push-in clips but I notice in a couple catalogs the mention of "door seal retainer" for '55-'59's - a metal strip (I guess, as my truck does not have such). Anyone have a picture of how it installs and "retains" the door seal? I assume its necessary to have them though my truck did not?Advice also appreciated.

Wow, really guys? NO ONE has any info about this seal retainer or a picture of it installed either?

I can't find the photos but on my 59 doors there were 3 clips screwed in on the bottom corners and center bottom. They were about 3/16" wide x 1/2" long with screw hole on one end and radius bend on other to clamp the WS to the door. Mine were pretty rusty I suspect a lot just rust away. Looks like they were to keep the WS from drooping.

Thanks Orrie. What I'm seeing in those links is a long narrow bar with a sort of "step" in it. Presumably the step holds the seal in some way. Maybe it's obvious if you have both in hand...I just don't yet.

you'll see once you have them in hand. if you look at the bottom of your door you might be able to see the 3 screw holes. One truck I looked at recently still had the strip, but the screws had rusted out. The guy just moved it back about an inch, drilled new holes, used the new screws that came with the strip.

I saw the three holes, and half a screw that must have broken or rusted out, but the strips were long since gone. I am about to order replacements and I'll just figure it out as I go to install them I suppose

Thanks Orrie. My truck still has those little clips though they are holding onto nothing but a scrap of rock hard door seal.

But what I'm looking for is the stepped, long metal strip that I think screws to the bottom of the underside of the door. Thanks again for the effort.

P.S. Those little clips are held in place by small clutch head screws on mine...so I THINK they're original?

they're identical to the ones on mine. mine had clutch screws also. they all came out with breaking off, a miracle.

Original these doors had two long metal retaining strips that go on bottom of door used to hold rubber seal and prevent door seal from catching and pulling of at bottom of door.

Mine did not have the long metal strip and had phillips screws so maybe it had been replaced at some point or the metal strip rusted away....
Some of the holes are drain holes, should be left open to let water out.
