Re: long tube headers

not worth it IMo when you can get stainless shorties for $120 shipped, no way. those will do nothing but rust out and plus all the exhaust mods to make them work I think not.

As for sounding better I highly doubt you notice any difference ins ound over long compared to short.

Re: long tube headers

yea but it's just more money spent. if I had to redo the exhaust and didn't have headers I'd run long tubes and not buy shorties but IMO you already have them and I would use them. I notice no difference in sound from shorties to long tubes, if anything my shorties are louder then long tubes.

Winter doesn't matter just being on there they rust. It's not a big deal other then looks, because I've had rusty headers for years.

Now if you got the black painted shorties on it, yea I'd change em for long tubes, but if it's the one you got the stainless ones on, no way would I bother to change them. They use no collector/donut gasket and they are stainless too.

Re: long tube headers

If you have shorties on it now, and YOU think long-tube headers sound better, then you have your answer.

In my opinion, the headers with the data to support them being better at torque or horsepower, etc., is what I'd start with.

Re: long tube headers

Not all full length headers are the same. To see the most gaines out of a full length header all depends on motor mods. Shorty headers are more for stock motor that need the tq at low RPM. With Full length header your power/tq curve moves up on your power band. if you buy a full length header make sure it's tuned and equal length primary tubes. Most full length header are just a lot of deferent length tubes to move more air volume.

Re: long tube headers

personally i would avoid long tubes on a 4x4, mid lenght at best. my buddy has a set of long tubes on his 2wd and the collector is well below the frame.

On a 4x4 I agree...
But on 2wd mine are 1 3/4 on a 91 and mine do not hang below the frame. The cheap I have notice do hang below the frame.

Re: long tube headers

Video didn't work for me. I like the long tubes I got on my 2 trucks. If I already had shorty's probably wouldn't go to new ones but if you want to then you should do it will be cool. I like the way my '88 sounds with the long tubes and no cat and burned out mufflers with turn downs its nice and throaty but not to loud except on the highways haha.
