I would like to buy a heavy duty rear airbag kit for my 72 with coil springs. Does anybody have one for sale? Or can anyone recommend one which FITS PERFECTLY with minimal mods and fabs. (maybe a bolt in).

Is it OK to bag just the rear, or should I do the whole truck at once? Thoughts?

Part # and manifacture appreciated..

BrianStep72,

ECE has the kit that you might want. It's listed as a heavy duty rear air bag kit with all the necessary parts included. I think they actually had the bags custom made for them to use on this kit. Check it out, it comes with shocks, shock relocator kit, Super TracBar kit, new brackets, U bolts, all hardware. The compressor kit is optional. BTW, better save your pennies, it ain't cheap!!!

Guys, I was searching around the net and found something that is LIKE what I was looking for. It's NOT the full blown air bag system from ECE.

Does anybody use something like this and what are your thoughts?

What are you trying to accomplish? That would be a better way to approach it. The kit you posted is designed to fit inside your coil springs and only be used as a load leveling or load assit.

If you are looking for ride height adjustability, ride quality, ease of installation then the ECE kit is the way to go. I have had mine installed for over 2 years now and it works beautifully. Ride quality is excellent. I have certainly put it through its paces with a yard of bark, 3/4 ton of gravel, 100+ yard stack stones etc.

I've been thinking about buying that ECE kit for my truck but it's so darn expensive! Do you have the stock front suspension or have you lowered it? At what height do you keep the rear, and how many pounds does it take to keep it there? Is the ride quality better than a stock coil setup at the same height? Not just bumps but handling, cornering etc..? Did you get the compressor kit too or are you using schrader valves on each side?

OK. I agree, let's start with the requirements.

1) I want setup a towing package on my truck. I will be towing a 3000 lb race car and trailer, so I would like to increase the leveling and capability of my shortbed. I will not be modifying the ride hight or slamming the truck to the ground.
2) I found out that I should put bags ALL THE WAY AROUND to be sure it will handle well.

i will be putting NEW heavy duty shocks all the way around at the same time I bag the coils. So i guess that's my plan. Do you think it will work?
