235 or v8

I vote for the six. I put a Pertronix distributer and coil on my 250 and what a difference! Later I added the Clifford water cooled intake and header combo and a Holley 2bbl. Runs like a beast when the carb is tuned right. I'm switching to an old Dualjet so I can dial it in for better fuel economy. Love the look in Chevy Orange.

I really like the look of an i6 under the hood.
For some reason I think it appears more classic than the more modern look of a v8.

I voted v8, because of the pricing and abundance of the parts.

Steve, i didnt see the pictures of your truck until now. Looks awesome! Love the chromes and WWW! I havent had any trouble with my single barrel, but this winter if i save a few bux i would like to put maybe 2x1 setup or something cooler on it. Someone told me maybe a bigger carb would help with fuel mileage but i dont know if that's true or not. Forgot to mention i have an '85 S10 electronic ingnition in it too, way better than the old points setup..

I've had both straight motors and bent motors in my Chevies and your truck, with that look, needs a built and dressed 6. Hopefully your 235 is a later model with full oiling system.

put 3-2s on it split manifold either glass packs or steel packs. put either wayne valve cover and side cover or edelbrock. spun aluminum oil filter cover and have something hardly anybody else has and you will have a truck that has a sound of it's own

I think there is room for both but I voted I6. here is a pic of my inline 230 GMC with Mercruiser boat cam, Clifford intake, Edelbrock 1404 4V, cast iron headers. My next project will be a V8 though not sure what size right now but looking around.

Steve it's like night & day difference, three singles might compare. It runs so smooth with that cam no lumpy idle but is a torque monster from the bottom to top rpm and it runs very well.

I voted V-8 also. I'm currently running the 230 and, in a lot of situations, it just needs more "ooomph". So later this summer I'm going to go with a 350 crate and eventually change out the rear end (to 3:08 or so) and go with a TH350. It'll just make driving it that much nicer. My commute isn't much further than yours, but I have a good 3 or 4 mile streatch of freeway in there and the stock set up just doesn't like doing 70mph very well.
