Hood to Cowel Weather Seal
I replaced my hood to cowl seal when I painted the truck and now the hood rides up a bit too high. I know it's because of the harder than usual durometer
of the rubber. I got this one from LMC and as usual, it's a second rate part. Does anyone know if a softer one is available and whom might have one? Thanks! |

Re: Hood to Cowel Weather Seal
I got mine for my '72 GMC from Wes at Classic Heartbeat. Fits great... It seems fairly pliable.

Re: Hood to Cowel Weather Seal
Classic parts for mine, they all push the hood up when new, I resolved mine by undoing the hinge bolts at the fender and really pushing down hard at the back on each hinge and retightening to make sure the hood was pulled down as far as it could go.
Not to be a smart ass or anything, have you installed it correctly?

Re: Hood to Cowel Weather Seal
I bought one from LMC and Classic parts, they were identical. I couldn't get mine to close without forcing the hood up, I even tried adjusting the hinges with no luck, they both went in the trash. I thought about putting some foam weather stripping in there instead but never bothered, I couldn't find a reason to go to the trouble unless I was looking for a perfect showroom truck.
I haven't had any issues, have any of you had a problem without the seal? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Hood to Cowel Weather Seal
The lmc seals are 90 degree angles like eightbangers. The original are more of a < angle and do not hold the hood up.
