Dash Lights and Carb
I have a 67 C20 and the dash lights keep fading in and out. I saw in a thread earlier about grounding the dash but where do I connect the ground wire on the dash itself. I also put the white face on my guages and painted the inside back white and it really looks nice. I am also having problems with my Rochester Quadrajet carb. I cannot get the secondary to kick in, the engine is a 71 or 72 402ci. So there are my questions and I look to the experts for help.

Are you trying to get them to open by just revving the engine?

Both by reving up the engine and also when the engine is off by just pushing on the throttle. I did get it to open up a little both ways. But since the motor is not stock there are no books for it. Any ideas you have would be great.

You cannot get them to open this way. What you see on top are the air valves (butterflies are under these) that open only when the engine can use that much airflow. When you mash the throttle to the floor the butterflies open all the way but the air valves open only when the engine can use the extra airflow. As the load increases on the engine the air valves will open accordly. You cannot put enough load at stand still to open them.

Thanks, I changed the inline fuel filter and also the fuel filter in the carb tonight. I drove it for a little while and that made a hugh difference. I found out that before I got the truck it had been sitting for quite awhile.
Now I just need to get the dash lights to work correctly and also get a new printed circuit board for it. Damaged it this weekend when I was working on it. Got another dash today but that circuit board is also damaged. All of the guages are good and I need a needle for my gas guage so I will either sell it as is or use the needle. I also found another dash today but it only had a gas guage and speedodometer. There were no separate guages for the battery, temp and oil pressure, they were in the middle section. Wasn't sure what year is was for, the gentleman had it laying on the shelf and he didn't know either. 1967 C20 LWB 402ci 400 Turbo Tranny |

Dash
I only picked up the one dash I needed today, but will try and go by this weekend and get a digital picture of the other dash. Since it did not look like mine and I wasn't sure what year it was for I left it there. The shop is called Memory Lane and the phone number is 813-752-9004 and the owners name is Wayne. He is mostly a Ford shop but had a 1972 C10 LWB with disk brakes. The seat frame was there with some of the cushion still on it. The passengers door was gone and the dash was gone(I took it) Sorry I did not look at the engine compartment, the bed was rough.
