Post Gas Pedal Super Hard In 87 Burb

I know it off topic but I know that you guys can help. Oky its super hard to push what could the problem be I cleaned the bracket on the fire wall but it didnt help ayt all . Could it be somthing in the carb? thanks if you guys could help!

When I first took my 84 s-blazer for a test drive I found that too. I got used to it after a while though. It had 2 throttle return springs on it. One inside of the other.

it has gotten really bad latley it omost sucks to have to drive it anywhere getting worse day by day

Hmm now that I think about it it sounds more like the gas saver option :P The harder to push the less you will push it

Sounds like the linkage has a spot where it is binding up.It could be grit a dirt if it is a cable.If it's an automatic it could also be the kickdown linkage for the tranny.

Its kinda fun doing crazy fish tails on dry pavement when you leave high school espically in a BURBAN you dont see that every day. Cost me about 2 bucks every time though!!!!

I'm guessing you have poor grounds to the engine. Every time you start the engine, some of the ground path is through the accellerator cable, causing it to arc inside and therefore increasingly difficult to slide.
Or sombody has been near your carburetor and reinstalled the spring(s) farther away from the pivot.

Hey! I just noticed its an '87, so it will have TBI instead of a carb.

I'm thinkin' frayed cable. Bad grounds will do that too, but it should also have a problem with decel as the cable should stick in either direction.

the gas pedal is just super hard to push it does not stick when you let off the gas

First grab the throttle plate and pull it open, if it binds something in throttle body is binding. If its smooth disconnect the cable at the throttle body, then try pushing the pedal in if its still stiff then the cable or pedal is binding. If it moves easy, take a look at your engine mounts, Ive seen where the engine twists enough to bind up the cable. Older linkage styles are real bad for that.
