got it started but only for a minute
truck has been dead and just not turning over....i was pretty sure it was the fuel pump so i replaced that along with the fuel filter. It fired up with the help of some starter fluid and idled just fine for a bit. I went inside assuming it was fixed and then came back out and it was dead. I replaced the carb filter next and got nothing. It then started making a horrible sound when i turned the key. (sounded like when you turn the key when it was already running).....does this mean my starter went out? does anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on?
thanks, jw

Re: got it started but only for a minute
Good Morning, By this description I would look at starter bendix or ring gear on the flywheel. Sounds like they are engaged all the time.

Yea sounds to me like your started got stuck engaged! I would try whacking it with a hammer and then pulling it and looking at the teeth and go from there.
