Tool Stowage Door restoration?

I believe my body man can restore my tool stowage door for about $100. I know these are hard to find so my question is this; is it worth it to spend that kind of money on something I'm just going to turn around and sell? Or would it be smarter to post it for sale and let the buyer do what he wants with it (I have the box, trim and hardware too). Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: Tool Stowage Door restoration?

Will putting $100 into it net you more than $100 added to the sale price?

Basically, if you put another $100 into it can you add $500 to the sale price?

i would expect that door on that truck, meaning, the truck has rust and rot too. If the truck was clean, the door would detract from the value. But a good door on a rusty truck isn't much of a selling point.

I'm using that truck for parts for my short bed build so eventually will be parting it out, along with the stowage box.

I just don't want to de-value the door by having someone work on it. I know some folks would rather do their own metal work...although my metal guy is really good.

I would at least like to break even on the hundred...
Didn't want to post this as a WIW thread but I am curious as to what the value is as it sits compared to having a reworked door on it.
