Re: 68 workhorse
Look like the valve for an old set of air shocks. Fairly popular in the 70's. Didn't dampen bumps much, but you could adjust ride height with them.

Re: 68 workhorse
Took the truck out on sunday to a job. Did well on carrying loads but i did run out of gas once. I had changed the sending unit in the tank and im not still not getting a gas reading. I was also able to drag a stump as big as the hood around the yard while it was loaded to the brim with logs. Really wanted a pix of it loaded but my lame phone turns off by itself and i need to plug it in to turn it on(iphonr with bustef sleep/wake button)

Re: 68 workhorse
Oh, also i wasnt all to good with the old manual. Im used to new ones that are all smooth and little effort, so i turned it off a couple times. It seems like my alt isnt charging the battery. I had to get jumped a couple times.

Re: 68 workhorse
68 had a 4 speed manual and a 327/350.the SPID says 327 but im not sure if it was changed at one point.
the 72 has a 350 goodwrench crate engine with a TH400. basically guna move the 72 stuff onto the 68

Re: 68 workhorse
im tired. pulled the engine out of the 68. i thin the 68's engine is long water pump and the 72's is short water pump. was trying to swap pulleys to put all the accessories from the 68 engine onto the 72's. looks like in order for it to work i'll have to make the 72 engine a longwater pump for now?
these is the bottom double belt pulley from the 68 onto the 72 and its not aligning

Re: 68 workhorse
im finally back home and got sometime to get to work. it is really really hard to remove and move the engines around the yard alone.
i removed the high hump and found a rag and some custom foam? the manual tranny crossmember didnt want to come out in one piece even after i took out the top of the rivets so it just came out in pieces. 4 speed is out. engine n tranny off the 72. really dusty. the 72 empty
