Reproduction hood springs?

Has anybody installed new stock replacement hood hinge springs? Please advise how well they hold the hood open. My originals hold the hood open adequately, unless I lubricate the hinges. On the rare occasions I lube the hinges the hood won’t stay open on its own for several weeks.

It would be nice to know if the same thing would happen after spending money on new springs.

Re: Reproduction hood springs?

I did, got mine from CLassic Parts. they fit well, my old ones we real bad, didnt close well. the new ones are much easier to operate ( close hood) although they need a little more adjustment, the close great.

they hold my hood fine, I got the hinges and springs.

yRe: Reproduction hood springs?

I put a new set of the reproduction springs on my '65 and they are terrrible. They barely lift the hood.

Re: Reproduction hood springs?

Thanks for the input guys. One just right, one too weak, and one too strong. Maybe I better just stick with my original springs.
