1/2 ton rear 4+4 backing plates same as 2 wheel

are the backing plates the same on a two wheel as a 4 wheel ? i have a rear axle with two diff drums on it and the drive side rear backing plate should be shaped like a frisbee with the shoulder facing in towards the shoes and the drum shoukld fit over this lip and provide a slop seal against the weather . well one side the passenger has a drum and usual backing plate that has these features but the drivers side - the backing plate has a usual fribee shape and at the top of the back plate it is flared in towards the housing and i suspect this is produced from morrons or is this the appearance i should expectr - to me it looks like they tried hard and bent the backing plate and had to put a two wheel drum on because it doesnt interfere with the backing plate . I am sorry for the lack of pics but am not capable at this time and will need a backing plate i suspect unless this is normal .
