rear window replacement adhesive?
Is is required to put adhesive on the seal or on the cab when replacing the rear window? I would assume the seal is good enough, but want to check first.

Re: rear window replacement adhesive?
I put a new gasket on my rear window and it still leaks. Interested if there is a sealer that can be applied to fix this.

Re: rear window replacement adhesive?
I have replaced three rear windows in my trucks and have never used any sealer, same thing with the windshields. As long as you get a quality rubber seal you should have no problem. When I painted my last truck I bought a new windshield and rubber and it leaked in the lower right corner, I pushed the rubber seal around and the leak stopped immediately.
You should be fine without any sealer. Who ever replaced the windshield in my truck before I bought it used sealer, everywhere he used it the windshield frame rusted, it took forever to scrape it all out and clean up the rust. I think sealer would actually make things worse by holding water and dirt in there. Posted via Mobile Device |

Glass shops nowadays, use urethane. I don't think we need it for the gaskets in our trucks, but I'm sure someone on here knows for sure....whether we need anything, or nothing. Nothing would be better than the wrong thing. Maybe some 3M weatherstrip adhesive is all we need, and I know it's an automotive grade.....yeah, that stuff we also call "snot" in a tube. Use the black, though. Here's what the GE Silastic will do:
