Large hump or small hump...which is better?
My '64 C-20 was originally equipped with a manual trans and has a large hump trans cover. I'm going to be running an automatic, and because I already have a smooth column, I plan to run a Gennie shifter or a tall Lokar floorshifter. I'm pretty certain that guys on this site have done something similar, but I am wondering if using a taller hump with an automatic actually presents a new set of problems like shifter placement, etc? I would really like to run what I already have, but if it's more advantageous to run the low hump, I'll find one.
Next question: I really like the floor mounted E-brake that my '64 has and want to modify it to use the standard cable style pull system. The handle is bolted to the side of the trans in stock form, and I know that I could fab a new mount for the automatic trans. Has anybody tried this?
