Dash pad cover
Are LMC"s dash pad covers any good. Do you have to tape then down? I don't want to ruin the dash pad.

Re: Dash pad cover
I've had mine for about 4 years and it has held up well, for a wile I had the cover just sitting on top of the pad but every time I would punch it, it would end up in my lap so I glued it down with the supplied adhesive

Re: Dash pad cover
I have a 305 V8. I don't think it will move if I punch it. Will the adhesive ruin the padded dash? My dash is old , but not cracked.

Plan to move to Texas. Don't want the sun to give it cancer. LOL. It is a little warped right now.

Re: Dash pad cover
I have one. It fits to an acceptable level. Pretty obvious that its there, but sure looks better then my original on that is cracked out beyond repair!

Re: Dash pad cover
The supplied adhesive is just like silicone gasket maker I believe. We used to install them with silicone.

Re: Dash pad cover
If you have never had a dash pad cover you should see one installed in person before you buy one. They are really just a piece of plastic glued to the top of your dash. They are not a snug OEM type look at all. I made the mistake of buying an Accuform brand cover which itself cracked and did not fit the original dash very well. They are designed to be "tacked" to the dash at a few points around the openings with silicone and "float" over the rest of the dash so it will not buckle up in the heat - so the pad will "puff up" in non-glued areas. Accuform sent me a replacement but I have not installed it yet because I presume it will do the same thing. These caps are better than a falling apart stock dash but I think your money is better spent on a restoration of the existing dash, even if it does not turn out perfect. Some guys posting here have used bondo to fill cracks and recovered/painted the OEM dash and they look OK to me. See pics.

Re: Dash pad cover
Anyone have pics of just the carpeted covers that go over the dash?

Re: Dash pad cover
I have had excellent results with the Coverlay brand. I wouldn't buy any other brand. They fit great and I think are guaranteed not to crack.

Re: Dash pad cover
Accuform is guaranteed not to crack also. So, when they crack, they send you another one. I would rather not have to pry the first one off, scrape off the silicone, and try to install another one. I don't see how any of these covers can be a tight, OEM looking fit - they have to be able to expand/contract, move around. I'm not criticizing anyone's choice, just discovered that a piece of plastic glued to the dash is not for me.

Re: Dash pad cover
I remember the first one I put in a 280Z. It fit perfect and looked great. You couldn't even tell it was there.

Re: Dash pad cover
Here is my carpeted dash pad cover. I painted my dash pad so I don't want to use the velcro they give to attach it to the dash. Any ideas?
