Re: ..I know I'm old..

Neato; Rad; Cool (Kewl); Clean; Wicked good/bad; Slick; Cat's Meow; Phat....every generation and each region has its' own lingo. When I was out west over 30 years ago, I latched onto the phrase "Clean", to describe something I liked. Then, a few years ago, someone on here agreed with me and said he still used it. My kids who lived in Rhode Island, were using "wicked" and good, bad, or whatever to describe something they liked.

Bada Bing, Bada Boom....

You gotta love our language and that's what makes it American!!!

Boss. Your truck is boss!! That's a boss ride!!
It kinda remindes me of Bruce springsteen, He sings songs about the working man and they call him the Boss.

Re: ..I know I'm old..

I guess hip talk or slang has always been pretty odd when you analize it...these are the lyrics to an Ela Ma Morse song from back in the forties, it also has one of the earliest uses of the word "homey"

Quote:
(Man)
Well, wha-ah-ahtcha say, Baby?
You look ready as Mr. Freddie, this black.
How 'bout you an' me goin' spinnin' at the track?

(Woman)
What's that, Homey?
If you think I'm goin' dancin' on a dime,
Your clock is tickin' on the wrong time.

(Man)
Well, what's your pleasure, Treasure?
You call the plays, I'll dig the ways.

(Woman)
Hey, Daddio,
I'm not so crude as to drop my mood,
On a square from way back.
I'm in there and have to dig life with Father.
And I mean Father Slack.

(Man)
Well, Baby, your play gives my wig a solid flip.
You snap the whip, I'll make the trip.

Re: ..I know I'm old..

Phil, your Motherland flavor is a nice touch....a way of saying that some of us are too old to be seen in public.

But, the phrase "swag"....I can see it. When you think about the word "swagger", and the definition that it has....then having a truck defined as having "swag" is kinda, well, cool, clean, rad, *****in', Y3.

Re: ..I know I'm old..

Of course, there are still some of us old-timers on here that when we say a truck is sick, we're asking how to get it running again.

I guess I'm really old, because I drove these trucks when they were new and weren't considered anything special because they were just work trucks.
