4x4 Radiator Metal Hose?
Just bought a original 4x4 radiator metal hose from a member, and have a question. What's a good anticorrosive or paint spray to use on these hoses? It had minor surface rust, and I cleaned it inside out with sandpaper on the outside, and rust remover gel on the inside. It cleaned out pretty well. All I need now, is to spray a protective anticorrosive to prevent it from re-rusting in the future. Where can I get it from also? Thanks!

I have mine all ready to go as well, and have been wondering the same thing about the inside of the pipe.
Was thinking maybe POR-15?

Re: 4x4 Radiator Metal Hose?
I cleaned mine about 10 years ago and simply sprayed it with #1613 Krylon semi-gloss. Other than some wrench nicks it still looks great.
The best thing about #1613 is you can't tell what the factory sprayed and what you sprayed and a can of touch-up paint is only as far away as Wal*Mart and about $3 in change.

Re: 4x4 Radiator Metal Hose?
From what I understand they put the metal hose in there because of the motor sitting farther back in the truck causing the distance to the radiator to be greater. There was a chance of the radiator hose pushing down into the fan blade

Re: 4x4 Radiator Metal Hose?
No help on the coatings, but is that a GMC specific part? That's the only place I've ever seen them.

Re: 4x4 Radiator Metal Hose?
Just an idea . . .
Maybe with the correct mix of glycol / water, there is not enough oxygen in the system for much rust to occur? If you think about it, these have been in our trucks going on 40 years and still not rusted out. You have to have oxygen for rust. Maybe some chemist can correct me here, because this is just my theory. Darren
