Lowering a 2005 with Torsion bars.
I recently bought a 2005 Silverado 1500 VHO with the lq9 6.0. It has the sport tuned suspension with torsion bars in the front. The truck sits level now but sit a little high. So I want to lower it 2" front and rear. Has anyone lowered one of these trucks? I cant seem to find any aftermarket kits for this suspension. Any info I can get would be great.

For the rear you can remove the blocks between the springs and axle if it has them. If it doesn't have the blocks you can just get drop shackles. I have never lowered one with torsion bars so I'll leave that to someone else. |

Re: Lowering a 2005 with Torsion bars.
ahhh. vho vortec high out put. i kinda feel alittle dumb now. learned something thou! yeah i have yet to DO a torsion bar lowerin but they probably do make spindles for them.
maybe look up stuff for an ss silverado as they should have the same front suspension. tahoes and suburbans also run torsion bar set ups. you can back the bolt of the torsion key to get you alittle lower but the ride might suffer. the same way as they make "lift" keys they make lowereing keys. so that would be a second option if you dont want to go with spindles or if you wanna go lower than 2 inches.

Re: Lowering a 2005 with Torsion bars.
found this
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MMC-11003/ and this http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/to...-lowering-kit/ i think if it was me i would do the spindles and a flip kit with some lift shackles to get it back up to 4 in drop. that way if i wanted to go lower all i would have to do is put the stock shackles in and slap on some keys.

Re: Lowering a 2005 with Torsion bars.
I had seen that kit but was lead to believe that the torsion bar trucks used a different spindle. I am not sure if that's the case and is why I wasn't sure about the McGuaghy's kit. Anyone know for sure?
