The main fusible link runs to the starter. You may also have overheated and hurt the headlight switch harness. Not burned out as it will still work sometimes, but it's probably pretty damaged. I'd follow it back from the switch into the harness that goes to the fuse box. That happened to me on a newer truck that had a lot of extra lights going through the headlight circuit. The backside of the switch would overheat and start to melt. Replaced switch a couple times, but the harness/plug that went to the switch was a little melted.
