Re: Which is worth more in your opinion?
when i walk up on a truck or car and i ask what engine and they say 454 i say OOOOOHHHHH OOO YEAH! thats the engine! but when i see the same car or truck and he says 5.3 i think , i wonder how much he modified to ift it in there and then the smog he has to deal with.... so 454 gets my vote!

Re: Which is worth more in your opinion?
^^smog??? must be a cali only thing. Hell my state doesn't even have a inspection your vehicle has to pass.
Not really a lot of modifications to fit in a 5.3 or lsx for that matter. Especially if your going to run a carb setup on it. Everytime I see a 454 in something I think "TURD" sorry, but I have never been around a street car that ran worth a damn with a 454. It seems that people hear the # 454 and think it makes 6-700 hp and if it actually does, there most likely not street driving that motor. |

Re: Which is worth more in your opinion?
There is not any arena of performance or power in a street vehicle that the 5.3 is not superior to the 454, Towing, speed, horsepower, reliability, performance, i've driven all of them and i cant think of any reason why i would take a 454 over that 5.3, the enginering behind the newer motors and the engine management system that comes with it cannot be equaled with a carburetor and 20 year old technology.

Vehicles 1975 and older are emissions exempt in Calif.

Re: Which is worth more in your opinion?
Because the question is what's worth more I go 5.3. Just because of the cost of doing that swap. It would make any driver quality truck worth more money. Just like that blue sleeper that was on eBay. If that just had a 454 I don't think they would get the money they are after. Just my opion.

Re: Which is worth more in your opinion?
Are you all voting on the question,"Which is worth more?" or on which motor/trans you'd rather have? By most of the responses it seems more the latter.
