Has anyone ever plugged their heater hose line on purpose?
Hey guys I was wondering if you all think it would be a bad idea remove my heater hoses and plug the ends.
I will not be using the heater or defrost at all. I have another vehicle for winter. In fact I plan on gutting all the AC and heater components until I get a chance to get one of those fancy vintage air kits. Does anyone see a problem with removing the heater hoses all together? Thanks!

I have only heard of looping the hoses together at the firewall, or installing a ball valve to shut off the flow if coolant to the heater. It has been done on trucks without A/C in the desert in the past - cuts down on the flow of hot coolant into the cab heater.

I've done it when my heater core was leaking.

It won't hurt anything on an older chevy. We did it on our hot rods all the time.

Thanks guys. I just didn't want to risk cavitating my pump or something. Any idea what size plug it is off hand? If not no big deal I'll just measure it.

Seems like they are 3/4 or 5/8 pipe plugs.

Common practice when I was younger.

Re: Has anyone ever plugged their heater hose line on purpose?
Buy a hose or connection and loop the system then you can plug the heater

Ive had no problems, I gutted my whole a/c and heater system...completely removed it and my truck still runs like a champ.
