Re: How Many Daily Drivers On Here?

That is one of the coolest stories ever! Almost a shame to leave such a beautiful truck out in the weather.

Re: How Many Daily Drivers On Here?

my dad used to daily drive a '64 short/fleet we once owned....before i was even born ('82) & up until the early '90s he had a '66 short/fleet driver...now i have a '66 that i was planning to turn into my daily driver...right now it's in an under-construction state, as we're rebuilding the front end, adding discs, P/S, etc...i'd have to add A/C though before i could daily drive it...honestly i could probably manage to do without air, but the wife wouldn't ride without it, haha....we'll see how things work out once I get it back on the road...there are a few other things i'd like to do before designating it as my everyday vehicle....my initial plans though were to drive it maybe 2-3 times a week, sharing driving duties with my other automobile

and i agree that there's just that special feeling you get when driving a classic that's non-existent when driving a modern car/truck....props to you guys that drive yours everyday!

Re: How Many Daily Drivers On Here?

I gotta tell About her truck's name.. It is "Lola" after the old 60's classic song by the Kinks. "L-O-L-A-Lola"
Because she decided it had been "trans-gendered" with the TH350 that was installed to replace the old three on the tree!!
We looked at Idaho Custom plates and 'Low-la" was available but she decided that she would save the big price tag associated with vanity plates!!

The day we drug it home. -It had not turned over or moved for 5 years Feb/2009

Re: How Many Daily Drivers On Here?

mine goes everywhere that i go.i bought it last fall on craigslist, trailered it home from yakima and proceded to strip 3 coats of paint from it and painted the interior and exterior in early spring.it has the 283 with a powerglide which runs excellent so i won't be changing the drivetrain.installed hoses, bearing pack and brakes.i had a 65 in 76 and have missed it over the years so this is the 2nd time around is the charm for me.

Re: How Many Daily Drivers On Here?

66Red&White...
Once you deal with the P-Steering box.......The rest is easy..
Kinda' like a scavenger hunt.
You should be able to find a set of pump brackets off of a 230 or 250..
or maybe a 292.
The Inline six with p-steering was some-what common from mid sixties through late seventies on passenger models and pick-ups..............there aren't a ton of them left, but you can find them.
Hoses, for the most part shouldn't be too much of a problem.
BTW: Great truck, PapaKent

Re: How Many Daily Drivers On Here?

I use everything I have as a daily driver. I normally do a weekly rotation. Even the 72 medium duty dump get thrown in the mix.

Would you have short beds? or long beds? step? or fleets? Well as long as they are healthy.
