Question Gas Cap (69 GMC Stepside)

Does anyone have a picture they can post showing the correct gas cap for a 69 GMC Stepside? (Cab tank) I assume its the same one a Chevy C-10 would have, no? Thanks! I'm pretty sure mine isn't the correct one and I've been having a heck of a time finding the right cap. . .

Jerry

Check out Brothers web site. They have pictures of the various caps.

Re: Gas Cap (69 GMC Stepside)

I tried 4 different vented caps from 3 different parts stores. None of them vented properly. I had a thread about a year ago regarding it.
I never got one that vented properly, no one could explain the problem.

Re: Gas Cap (69 GMC Stepside)

I need to SEE a picture of the cap. . . . I'm not sure the neck on my tank is right/original. It's the 'threaded' type and I can't find one to replace it. The pictures at Brothers & LMC don't show the "inside" of the cap. If someone could snap a picture for me, I would appriciate it. I just need to see what to search for. . . .

Re: Gas Cap (69 GMC Stepside)

Threaded? The stock OEM caps for these trucks don't have threads. They have two tabs that fit into the slots in the filler neck. Then, you turn it to secure it. Threaded caps are for later model vehicles, like after the demise of leaded fuel and filler necks that have the flap to help prevent the loss of unburned vapors in a closed system.

I have an original '69 cap, from my Chevy. It should be the same as your truck had. I'll get a pic tomorrow, if someone doesn't post one tonight.
