Factory HP rating

What is the factory horsepower rating for a 67-72 Chevy 350 as well as the 67, 283?

I think they changed the rating system from 1971 on. My 1970 350 was rated at 255 HP but 71 and 72 were rated at 165HP. The early years were rated at the flywheel and later they moved it to the rear end. Pretty big power difference before and after the drivetrain. I don't think there was anything different between the 1970 and 71 up engines.

1967 283 was rated at 195HP, at the flywheel, I assume.

Browse thru the suffix codes at this site for all the years and HP combinations.

You can wish in one hand and crap in the other.
See which one gets filled first.

1967 truck 283s were rated 175 gross hp.

The 4 barrel truck 350s for this era were rated at 255 gross hp until the '72 model year when they went to net hp numbers, then the same motor was rated at 175 net hp.
