Bout to blow my lid off

Went to O'Reilly today to pick up a remaned Hydroboost unit. Guy claimed it comes with a brake pedal pushrod, so I was pretty happy about that. Well i show up and no, it only comes with a couple O-Rings, i tried searchin online at auto part store (napa, o'reilly, etc) but i cant find jack on where to locate a push rod. I'd use the one i have but its bent. Where the flip can i buy/find one?!

Re: Bout to blow my lid off

I searched rockauto but it didnt seem to have it, or i just didnt look hard enough. I guess i'll just find one at the local wrecking yard. Any tips for the best way to remove the rod (without bending it)

Re: Bout to blow my lid off

I don't know about your particular year, but on my sons 2004 hd I had to remove the pedal assembly under the dash, It really was a pain in the neck, took over 3 hours to do. However when everything was open just pulled right out.
Hope this helps

Are you at all handy with a welder? I'd say just straighten your bent one out with a bench vise, and then get a piece of steel tube that fits nice and snug over the outside and weld it on so you re-inforce it. Just a thought...

You might want to check with Auto Zone or Advance, or one of the others. Another option would be to have Oreilly's order another one. Sometimes what happens is the parts in the shops are scavanged by either the employees or others who have bought the parts and returned them. I know this from personal experience. What does your pushrod look like? I just removed my booster and may have an extra one.

Re: Bout to blow my lid off

Forgot all about this thread, woops. Still no rod yet. Anyways i called the local dealer and they said its measured from the bottom of the eyelet to the actuation something or other. The ACDELCO website says "measured from reaction piston to bottom of eyelet". Can someone elaborate on that? Do they just mean from bottom of eyelet to the base of the hydroboost?

I'll post a picture of my P.R. its roughly 178 mm long from top of eyelet to grommet end. And from bottom of eyelet to base of hydroboost is roughly 76mm.

Re: Bout to blow my lid off

Update: Got a remaned unit from Cardone, i straightened my push rod (surprisingly not that hard), and used that. Got no noticeable leaks, save for a tiny one on the low pressure line on the Hydrboost side. Here's the latest issue: The brakes feel softer than they used to be and require a good deal more effort than the original unit. They used to be nice and stiff, now its just soft with much more pedal travel before brakes grab. I'm at a loss again.

On a side note i picked up a tach dash a few months back and finally got to test it out on the truck, every gauge works flawlessly save for the Tach, which spazzes out.
