Suspension options for 1970 C20

Hope you all can help me out here. I have a 1970 Custom Camper C20. It has 8 lug hubs and big disc brake set up. I'm not too keen on the stock height and would love to lower it. I rarely use it for any towing duty. Other than cutting the stock front and rear springs are there any other options? Does anyone make lowered springs and spindles to fit the C20?

If I can't lower it I may go the other route and change it over to 4wd. Have available to me front and rear suspension from a 1988 Chevy so.... but like I said prefer to lower it.

Any ideas or info would be awesome.

Thanks

you can't cut the rear coils, they are tapered on both ends. Blocks, coils, bags, coilovers.......

Forgot about the taper... I'm not positive but I think lowered C10 springs will fit in the rear.. if not I can make'm fit.

It's the front that I think is oing to be an issue. I'm not going to invest in an airbag or coil over system. Thats why I'm hoping to find info on lowered springs and dropped spindles.

Re: Suspension options for 1970 C20

Okay did a little cross reference research through LMC catalog... Please correct me if I am wrong.

They list stock replacement coild springs
34-2826 coil spring set HD 2wd 1/2T 68-72

and then same p#
34-2826 coil spring set STD 2wd 3/4T 68-72

So this has me thinking the lowered 1/2T springs should work on my C20??

Now if I can find spindle info.

Can't you just use C/10 lowering coils? I've put 3/4t coils under a 1/2t.

Pretty sure I can. But I'm wanting to put dropped spindles too. But research on that isn't looking too good. ball joints are diff part numbers and every where I have called the "operators" use thier catalog description and application, they have zero knowledge.

These wont work? I know they are from a 70 but you have disc upgrade, right? I think the numbers are dwindling of places that make them

They do make dropped spindles for the C/20's. I know CPP carries them.

No upgrades.. all factory 8 lug big disc brakes.

Got an email back from classic performance and they confirmed the springs will work. However they do not know of a dropped spindle for C20's with the 8 lug set up

Here are some conversion ones offered by ece: http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx

You will have to look on their site....the exact page doesnt come up in the link.

Thanks for the link Leddzepp. They do list them for my application... just have to change my brakes to C10 set up.. so I guess that's not too bad

Oh wow, CPP has them? They are showing them..for some reason I thought they had stopped carrying them.. I think the place I was was thinking of purchasing from was Performance online..not airbagit anyways.

Cool. Thanks!!!

So now I'm being told that Chevy didn't offer disc brakes until 1971. tried to search for stock replacement front rotors for 1970 and no luck... so now I have to assume a previous owner swapped to 71 newer disc brakes.

But if that is the case spindles and springs are easy swap.

thanks all for the help
