How to hot wire to start 76 HEI 350
How do I hotwire a 76 350 with hei ignition and no computer (no wiring AT ALL yet except new plugs and wires - dash panel is laying over on the shelf)? I have never owned one of these "modern" gizmos before. ALSO - just installed this 76 350/350 from a motor home and wonder how do I put the trans in park with no linkage? There's no driveline yet, but don't want that tailshaft spinning. joetruckATgmail.com

Can't you just jump the starter solenoid? Your just trying to get the motor going right?

You should also be able to turn the gear selector by hand to get it into park.

Why do you need to hot wire it, because there are different ways to do it depending on why.
To put trans in park rotate the lever on the left side counterclockwise till it stops. Posted via Mobile Device

"Jump" the starter and it will start/run disconnect it to stop the engine.

Re: How to hot wire to start 76 HEI 350
Thanks Longhair - THAT is what I needed to know. So far, all I have is a bunch of wires in looms from the donor truck which I drove in to the garage to pull the engine trans after wet/dry compression checks. I just want to see it run in it's new home a little bit before I spend the time/money/etc on exhaust, wiring, etc etc, you know what I mean...
Thanks again, Joe |
