My Maiden Voyage
Well this evening was my first test drive since I bought my 1967 Chevy Suburban! Made the deal on Halloween 2010 and the transmission was not working. So in between work and other life events this was my first test drive since I owned the beast!
We put the transmission and transfer case in just after 5.5 hours of work. And it seemed like it fought us the entire time! Wasn't able to install the front drive shaft as the cap came off and lost all the needle bearing so will deal with that another day. And WOW! I was a very hot day to be working under a truck! But am I please it went well after some hick-ups. The drive was nice, but the brakes are very scary to say the least. My steering wheel doesn't line up correctly and my buddy said a front-end alignment will take care of that. Not very sure about that one. But it drive straight and shifts very smooth, so for the moment I am happy!

Re: My Maiden Voyage
Sammy,
I have a lot of little things to do before this thing is road worthy. Like for one I can't get my driver side window to roll down. The regualtor seems like its stuck! Might have to see if you can help with that if you have any ideas.

Re: My Maiden Voyage
That doesn't bother me at all. I own a huge sludge hammer!!!!. I bet it can get thru the window. Usually it does do some raining that W/E any hoot. If you need help getting inside a door no problem. You have my cell..I have a few doctors type things every few days just call ahead of time to get stuff sliding around the days first. Glad you got the beast on it's own power..that is always a good sign to start with. Now get it to convince you it can be trusted for some adventure and to see your truck friends..

Re: My Maiden Voyage
The door issue. Sounds like the regulator is FUBARRED with rusted out stuff. Pull the door panel inside the door and start with some spray lub or rust eatter and see what we have to work with. Let it sit for a day.. May need some cleaning out and see what can be salvaged to make it at least go up n down with some elbow grease.

Re: My Maiden Voyage
Sounds good.
I'll start by spraying it real good and let set for a day. I have a spare regualtor so if I tear this one up its no big deal.
