Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
I know many of you run topless and I plan to also. I want to get some seat covers to fit on the original buckets and want waterproof covers. Anyone know a source or have pics of what they run?
Thanks

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
I don't know of any to fit original style buckets.
A few years ago I had some from Cabela's that were great...I thought. Until one day i was doing a thorough cleaning of everything & decided to wash the covers. When I took them off, the seats were horribly mildewed. They are leather so a little Clorox & water and they cleaned up good. Needless to say I threw the covers away. Just something to be aware of

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
I have those same seats but I drew a pattern on them and had them reupholstered in marine vinyl. I also try to stay out of the rain.

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
Thanks for the input. I have found a couple sources that make them custom fit for the original buckets, but they are pretty spendy. From $129 per front seat to $189 I think for the pair. Then another couple hundred for the rear. For that king of money I might as well get marine vinyl done locally. If I could find some covers similr to the cabelas ones to fit a low back bucket I would use them for now until I can justify the expense of the premium covers.
Anyone find decent low back covers yet?

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
I just let mine dry out for a day or two after getting caught in the rain I think marine grade vinyl is probably the best option if you plan on keeping the blazer. I'll probably do mine in that sooner or later since I drive mine in the rain a lot with the top off lol

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
In little rain where its just sprinkling, you don't really notice it at all. But of course, everytime I get caught or have to drive in the rain its a DOWN POUR and there's nothing you can do but just enjoy being in a convertible lol
You don't really get much rain thrown in your face though, windshield blocks it of course. And I always wear sunglasses when I drive with the top off. Too much dust and crap to get into my eyes I find, but then again that could be because my interior is full of dirt and mud since I use it as a truck lol

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
When you are driving fast the rain blows right over the top and most everything stays dry until you slow to a stop. Then you're getting wet.

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
I spent about an hour once, out in the woods in my blazer under a plastic tarp, waiting for a downpour to pass. LOL!

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
It's probably a good idea to carry a tarp and some bungee straps to hold it down if you have to park it somewhere and there's a chance of rain.

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
I used to leave my top off all summer long. I would tarp it at night, and carry it with me, just in case. My blazer wasn't painted or finished, so I didn't have to worry about bungees or the tarp flapping and messing something up. Probably not an option for a nice blazer.

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
Marine vinyl is usually paired with a dry-fast foam. Otherwise the foam retains water for longer periods.
Having worked on marine furnishings-seats, settees, etc.; using dry fast foam REALLY makes a HUGE difference. My other suggestion would be neoprene seat covers, like wet okole brand, etc. |

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
I think I'm going to go with these for now. Cheap and easy.
http://www.summitracing.com/search/b.../?autoview=SKU I think these are the same ones, but show it on a low back seat. http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-soft-...7/C9859CH.html

Re: Waterproof Seat Covers for Going Topless
The PO recovered the seats in my blazer with Marine vinyl I like it, doesn't fade and the water seems to just 'wipe off'
when I do my 'frame on' resto I plabn to rhino line the whole interior body real thick and get rid of the carpets, Jon |
