SWB Frame question
Any idea if there are any differences between a 66 SWB and 70 SWB Frame? I have a 70 SWB that is tweaked. I also have a lead on a possible 66 SWB frame that is in much better shape which would save me time and money in the long run if it is the same as the 70.
Anybody know? Thanks in advance.

well, I'm not sure of the diffrences, but I've worked with a lot of these trucks and currently have a 69 frame for my 71 truck right now, and honestly aside from a few quirks, I dont see a difference.
your main differences will be bolt sizes for your front suspension, the bolts on the later models of these trucks were much larger than the previous, as far as holes and whatnot tho, a 67 may as well be a 72 and all points in between cos its fully swappable.. besides.. with alittle time.. there aint nothin you can't make work  oh yea.. I guess I should also mention.. I beleive (dont qoute me here lol) that the 66s had a few extra holes in the rear of the frame to allow for helper springs? a bit more standard han the 67-72s? since the cab is different the body mounts are probablly off just alittle, and your very last crossmember is missing a hole for your wire harness.. if I were you I'd grab my 67-72 frame, line it up side by side to the 66 and just measure everything up, you will probablly need body mounts and your front and rear crossmembers |

The only thing I know for certain is that my mid '67 frame is different than the late '67 and '68 - '72 where the power steering motor mounts to the frame. THe early '67 does not have the indentation on the frame to accomodate the later model power steering box since it had the cylinder assist version.
