Ford rearend in a 65 c10
Just wondering if anybody has put a ford 9 inch or even an 8.8 rearend in these trucks and how hard or labor intensive it is and is it worth it if I am building it to be a weekend toy/ daily driver

Here's one build with an 8.8
http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=385486 IMO there's nothing wrong with the truck 12 bolt for your intended use.

Ford 9" is not a problem. You can narrow it or look for one that is the same width as your stocker. You can get mounting pads from someone like ECE.

Re: Ford rearend in a 65 c10
Im running an 8.8 and it fits perfectly. Disk brakes, limited slip and was 61" wms to wms. All that was needed was the u bolt perches welded in. A 12 bolt would work fine too but I used what I had.

As mentioned, a Ford 9-inch is no problem. I had an extra sheetmetal housing laying around for my build, but the concept is the same.

Ya I do agree with the fact that there is nothing wrong with a 12 bolt but I just happened across a couple of good nine inchers for really cheap and my 12 bolt is trashed unless I want to spend a load of money on it
