When using electric fan setup, do I need a shrouded fan? Will a non shrouded fan cool a 4 core rad well enough?

Probably not. Need more info such as size of fan, cfm, cooling problems when had mechanical fan?

I would say yes you need a fan schroud. The air needs to be pulled through the radiator evenly to cool correctly. Here is a post for another board about the fan schroud thing. Hope this helps, follow the link below. It will give you an idea of what you need. Good luck, Landon

Won't that limit the airflow throught the radiator when running at higher speeds like down the highway?

72gmcshorty, I have no idea but I can find out and someone or me will let you know.

Figment412, no I don't think it will make much differance. But then again I wont know for a few years, my truck is not done yet. I heard that the more even the flow of air to the radiator the better the cooling? but like I said I have no idea.

I hear 93-97 Nissan Ultima fans are almost a direct fit and work good.

I had a Nissan fan in mine until one of the motors started making noise. I think it was an early 90's Altima. It was dual fans and it fit perfectly. Now I have a Hayden 16" mounted in the shroud where the original fan would be. Works great.

They have a nice PDF catalog, page 70 of which has several fans and shrouds displayed. It seems like another A/C company makes an electric fan/shroud combo that is designed to fit our trucks, but I have not found it, yet.
