Re: Keeping my wife happy!

I had a Lokar in my truck before and loved it. Very high quality product. I went to a coumn shifter for a cleaner look inside after the resto. In alot of ways, I still miss the floor shifter.

Re: Keeping my wife happy!

if the shifter is wasting real estate on the floor, there darn well better be a clutch pedal to go with it!!!

i like a shifter on the column. if you could score a tilt steering column for your truck, that would be perfect for you AND your wife. they even make retro-fit shift indicators for those who have upgraded to a 4 speed overdrive trans!

Re: Keeping my wife happy!

several companies carry them due to the popularity of swapping a 3 speed out for a 4 speed. check with LMC Truck or Car and Truck Shop....i know they carry 'em! I have a 3 on the tree in my 72 burb, but i'd have ditched that turbo 350 in a heartbeat in favor of a 200r4 if my truck had come with an automatic.

Heard that, Im going to haveto take some pics of the project, I decided to go with a B&M that I was able to trade some parts for, very frustrating point of the process right now...thanks for the offer for the parts as well, just cant pass up the free price tag for a new part. If youve put a B&M in with a th350 chime in

Re: Keeping my wife happy!

Alright, this one has me stumped. Have a clearance issue with the crossmember and the B&M shift lever. I have home fabbed on that may get me there, but if not may have to move the x member, or alter it to allow for the movement. Those rivets are no joke serious pieces of metal, and working without a lift has me thinking I need to lose 50 lbs. Seriously though, if I wack that x member off I feel like Im seriously screwing up, unless theres a decent aftermarket one to replace that would be MUCH smaller, possibly in a new location...gurus, your thoughts are needed... and maybe I can sweeten the pot for the best option with some parts, fuel pumps, o2 sensors, spark plugs are items I can easily get as sales samples.... lets hear em...when its not raining balls out Ill get some pics up

Re: Keeping my wife happy!

I installed a B&M in my 67, 350/350. I didn't have any clearance issues. What are yours? I may be able to post some pics if needed.

The shift nut is directly above the xmember, when I install the linkage it will only move a little bit, possible PO xmember change here, dont know, would have to cut a couple of inches out of the thing to get full motion in the gm supplied linkage... pics would be great!
