1969 C20 Lowered Custom
After selling my 68 in 1995 to move, I am now starting a full custom 69 C-20 long bed. Custom hand built grille/ bumper, shortened bed/ frame/ drive shaft, pancaked hood, suicide doors, every thing shaved including the drip rails, molding, side marker lights and gas filler, dual exhaust, FBSS air ride system, C-notch rear axle, smooth rear roll pan, frenched 8 1/2" headlights, frenched fog lights, and much more to come. Looking for suggestions, doing all work myself in my garage. Got the truck for $1500 with a 2004 350/ TH400 setup.

Where did you get your suicide door kit and how hard was it to section your hood like that?

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
I just flipped the hinges from front to rear and latch from rear to front. Had to add support to hinge location on door and cab.
I pancaked the hood by following instructions from a post on here by another member http://www.customclassictrucks.com/t...ion/index.html , seemed pretty simple most difficult was cutting top of radiator support and that wasn't too bad. The look is definitly worth it, one of my favorite mods. |

Sweet man thanks for the link looks pretty easy, but nothing ever goes like it's supposed to .You think there is anyway I could get some pics of your door supports and striker pins and stuff?

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
should have taken more pictures I guess. I am filling in around the striker plate on the cab so it looks flush. I welded in 2 2"x3"x15" L bars where the hinges mount to cab (below gas filler hole). Added a plate inside door to mount hinge to for strength. Going with a solenoid to remote pop the door open as I shaved the handle. This method did not open the door 90 degrees like the kits, but I also did not have to cut up the inside of the door where the door panel goes and it was free.

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
Wow, That is a lot of modding. I like you custom grille. I cant wait to see how it turns out.
Are you going to cut the back of the bed down as well or are you going to stick with that length? I shortened mine all the way down to short bed status. Nice to see someone else thats willing to tackle that. In a way its not that easy.

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
Thank you! I am going to leave the back 8", neat to park between a long and short bed when completed and not look the same. As you can see I am trying to go the opposite of stock

Painted the top, installed shocks, started side exhaust install. The F*#$ is my wife's, little nervous that her tires are bigger than my truck!

Re: 1969 C20 Lowered Custom
Gas tank installation started, still need straps and sending unit. Going to put access on bed side behind driver rear wheel well. Still have 4" clearance from pavement with air bags fully deflated.
