1951 Rear Bumper Brackets
My question is how much different is the rear bumper brackets from the front??
Mine came with a huge ranch bumper on the end and I'm looking for rear brackets and a rear bumper.. this place is looking competitive in price http://www.classicparts.com but used brackets would be better..

Re: 1951 Rear Bumper Brackets
I paid 45.00 for a used chrome bumper and rear brackets a few weeks ago at a swap meet. That was down from his asking price but what I wanted was the brackets.
I'm thinking about running a 54 bumper to get the dip in it for the license plate. But figure in the cost of gas running around the countryside looking for a pair of good used ones against the 69.95 and shipping and it pretty well evens out. I've bought some small items from those guys and their service seems to be pretty good. Ordered and then in my mailbox three days later. Last edited by mr48chev; 06-29-2011 at 06:43 PM. |

Re: 1951 Rear Bumper Brackets
Ya I'm searching through the local supply but that sounds like a heck of a find, found a banged up and beat front for $60 and the guy wouldn't budge. Thanks for the good word on the site. I feel better about it if I use them.

Re: 1951 Rear Bumper Brackets
Their chrome rear bumper seams to be a pretty good deal too. I am headed out to the local hot rod salvage yard to see if their is a deal to be had.

Re: 1951 Rear Bumper Brackets
I cant say for sure since my truck didn't come with either front or rear bumpers, but in every catalog they appear to be slightly different and have different part numbers.
FYI, bumper brackets for 47-53's are the same part number as 54-55.1 bumpers...

Re: 1951 Rear Bumper Brackets
Where is that "hot rod salvage yard"? I'm 200 miles away and if it would be worth the trip I might just go look myself. Thanks, Clay

Re: 1951 Rear Bumper Brackets
Nick's auto salvage, hes running lean on classics trucks right now, I think hes got bit and pieces of three 47-50 pickups, but he always has pulled aside the good motors, rear ends, and columns for the hot rods. I got an 02 Bravada rear posi 3:73, 59" wide.. puts the disc rear calibers just out side the stock frame rails when its laid out.
