57 front fender mounting ???

Quick question: Should there be a rubber spacer between the fender and cowl at the upper rear mounting bolt of the front fender?

I think my truck had solid shims but the FSM mentions a "cushion".

On mine I'm using solid shims. I don't remember finding rubber ones when I took it apart but that was so long ago I could have forgotten.

my 55 just had shims, almost makes sence that there should be a very thin rubber washer in there.

Re: 57 front fender mounting ???

It should be just a metal shim, no rubber. The only place there is rubber is in the rear cab mount, a very thin piece on a shim on the front cab mount, more of a anti squeak device, lower radiator support and the lower front and rear of the fender wells.

Re: 57 front fender mounting ???

Thanks Guys. I'm getting ready to put my fenders back on and want to do it like it should be. I was using the LMC catalog as a guide and have all the new rubber parts shown there but the word "cushion" in the FSM made me wonder.

Also a strip of sealant between the inside of the fender at the door jamb and the cab, and a rubber seal along the length of the back (cab) side of the inner fenders. The Factory Manual has a couple of pages devoted to just sealing, lots of stuff that was either missing or I did not pay attention to during disassembly too.
