fuel pump/fuel line ?
Looking into changing my pump to carb line out, current line is 5/16"steel{not 3/8"}and outlet on pump is too.Aren't most sbc fuel pumps 3/8"?Its a 69 307 4 barrel.
Thanks. |

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
I think many of the V-8 trucks had the 5/16" fuel line. I sure someone that knows more about it will chime in.

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
i believe most V8 trucks had 3/8 and 6cyl trucks came with 5/16

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
your truck was probably a 2 bbl truck originally.
inline 250 got 5/16ths I think 292 got 3/8 (I could be wrong on that) All v6 trucks got 3/8 2 bbl small blocks got 5/16 4 bbl small blocks got 3/8 all big blocks got 3/8 |

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
2 bbl makes sense, the vin showed a V8.I guess if I want to go to 3/8 I will need a fuel pump or atleast a bushing to step up the size.

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
I think with a 307 the 5/16 line would be fine!

I'm running 5/16 on a 350 with a 4 bbl and have not had any issues.

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
the reality is, you'd need to be holding your engine at 6000 RPM for a while to run the carb dry (assuming everything is right) with a 5/16ths line.

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
Hearing truck fire stories I got buggered on rubber hose so I ordered a steel carb line and filter assembley{edelbrock}and a pump to filter line{steel}from LMC,all 3/8".My pump is 5/16",I'll either replace the pump or step up the outlet.I am not worried about lack of fuel, just plumbing it neat and safe. Thanks everyone.

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
In that case, you can buy a pump for a 350 at the parts store for under 20 bucks and it will have the 3/8 fitting that your new line requires. It will of course fit your 307 directly. New fuel pumps are a nice piece of mind anyway for reliability's sake.

Re: fuel pump/fuel line ?
Put a 3/8" fitting in the pump.I now have all new 3/8"from pump to carb with only a few inches of thick wall rubber fuel line for good fit. Thanks for the input.
