Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

I like the look of the truck and the way it runs and drives. Its a 300 hp paccar px6. Like a dodge cummins. Its got great power and its an auto. But i am 6 foot 5 so i dont really fit all that good. I have to put the seat all the way inflated to work the breaks. The seat also does not slide back too far. The crain is a 3200 lbs autocrain i think is the brand. Has wireless remote....that does not work. Have not got to mess with it yet. I guess workin for pete i have to like it. Just wish it was a full size cab.

Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

Well after getting out of the red truck and going back into shop i am now back in field service with an old f0rd....It is half good due to the cummins in it. Actually rides better then the pete and has more leg room. Handles like a boat. floats around in lane. Not sure what year it is. Has a 6 speed manual trans in it. But i am not sure what good the first 2 gears are. Only thing they do is get it moving. Speedo does not move tell 2500 in second. But it is so heavy it cant start off in 2nd unless it is a down hill start. Have to make running starts at hills to. Registation says 26000 lbs. Feels like atleast that. And it has hydralic breaks. Should have stayed in pete.............

Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

i finally got my new truck in march. it is exactly the same pos truck that my other one was. only difference is it is a 2011. the new low emissions crap makes it a dog and fuel hog.
i had the same truck as that ford about 8 years ago. it wasnt a bad truck. the 5.9 cummins is under powered for that much weight.

Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

Yes the new epa emissions crap i no good. But that is what keeps me working. 80% of our customers are 07 up emissions. That is what about 90% of my road calls are for.

The 5.9 is absolutly usless. It will not get out of its own way. If you can see a hill you have to start out in first gear. I had it floored for 15 mins the other day and it did not even hit 70. Not even down hill. The hills were not that bad cause a loaded volvo truck was no my tail trying to pass. The previous driver had the wastegate hose crimped off so it would make more boost. But the sounds the 200000 mile engine makes i am afraid to do it. The thing i hate about it the most is everything is hydro. Like the air compressor and crain. So if you have to run the aircompresser every ten seconds the truck engine goes to 1400 rpm for a min then the tiny tank fills and goes back down to idle. Some times the compresser locks up when it trys to start. Maybe it will crap out soon and i can talk boss into a gas one. Other then that it is an ok truck.

Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

you are the first person i have heard that would rather have a gas compressor instead of the hyd one. i would trade you mine in a heartbeat. i hate listening to the compresssor rattle. my truck idles most of the day anyway for the crane. i have the biggest gas compressor they could find but it still cant keep up with my 1" impact.

This is the only pic of the one I used to run. Got it brand new in 08. T-300 KW with a PX-8 330hp and 10 spd. Had a 10,000lb crane on a Summit body. The thing would get down the road pretty well and still get 8mpg with all the emission crap on it. Really tight in the cab area as far as legroom, but I am 6'5" as well. The boss man even let me stock it full of Snap-On tools. Had an enclosed Miller Bobcat welder, torch kit and a hydraulic air compressor. Only thing I would have had different would have been air ride and a 12,000lb crane.

Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

That is one nice looking truck. Bet that 330 horse was nice to have. My 5.9 is like 200 hours. I wish my crain worked. The remote for the thing is busted i guess. Have not tried it.

Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

Yea it wasnt bad for power unless I was dragging around a the trailer which was too big for that truck anyways. I sure do miss it thats for sure. I got to take it home every night so using the crane on my own little projects was nice and I would love to have it to do a lot more projects.

Re: Lets see your service trucks!!

I have to take mine home.... We do road calls for anyone that can call us. Cat, cummins, or any thing related to a truck except for detroit and mercades. Sucks some times. But i guess i signed up for it.
