Re: Added to the fleet today (Project Rock'n Roll)

well $1500 later I got 2 new steer tires and an alignment...I thought $200 for a 3 axle alignment was a good deal......271070 miles <<<< we'll see how many miles I get out of them...as far a service I give a thumbs up to Billie and Jim @ Sullivan tire in Bow NH for great service heck they even plugged it in checked all the sensors and said all he could find was the one broken ABS sensor I had told him about.....great guys and very professional

on a side note the guy was surprised that the truck is a 2003 !!! he said it was a pleasure to work on something clean!!

Re: Added to the fleet today (Project Rock'n Roll)

well I guess if you spend $$$$ on the front.... well the back will get jealious....

this was a near recap???? it had a patch on it and it wasn't done correctly.....if you patch a tire YOU MUST USE A "T" STYLE PLUG/PATCH the patch part stops the air from leaking out and the plug part stops water from getting to the STEEL belts....once the belts get water to them guess hwat happens next????????? yep the cord RUST then ....Well

On a side note I have to tell you guys what happen.....this tire blew out as I was going by an Ice cream stand looking at the line the POP was so loud they they where about 3 feet off the ground when I looked up next...LMFAO.....I took a bungie pulled the mud flap up so it wouldn't get torn off and limped it another 18 miles with 21 tons of Hot asphalt on......dumped in the paver and went down the hill ( about 3 more miles) to a tractor dealer...went in borrowed a couple pry bars and a block of wood...drove it up on the blocks pried the tire off the guy came over and scooped up and put it in the body for the 45 mile ride home.....imagine the looks I got with one tire completly missing...LMAO....new tire will be here about 8 pm I'll put it back on the rim a quick shot of either and some air will seat it on the rim and make it ready to roll in the am!!

Re: Added to the fleet today (Project Rock'n Roll)

So you use the ether deal too? Saw that on IRT where the guy about singed off all his facial hair....

Speaking of seeing weird things going down the road...there was a tour bus with a blown rear tire...It was lodged in next to another tire and the steel cords were sparking on the road.....we called the non-emergency number after the driver ignored our signs to pull over and watched him drive another 75 miles on 95N with no sign of a road crew or state police despite two more calls back and two promises that someone was on the way... Just didn't want to see a big chunk come off and go through someone's windshield or grille...and with the one wheel locked up...didn't want him to have an issue and lose control w/ a bus full of people....

Re: Added to the fleet today (Project Rock'n Roll)

Nice classic man! That stinks about the tire, but you'll have that. At work when we repair flats, we plug them first. Then cut off the inside of the plug and grind it smooth. Apply a patch, then butyl tire sealer. we do this to do exactly like you said and keep the belts from rusting causing you a blow out or a seperated casing.

Re: Added to the fleet today (Project Rock'n Roll)

Utt Oh!!! this can only mean one thing!! yep more new paint!!!

Plan is to run out tonight and pickup a gallon of red Rustolium and spray the bottom of the bed!! this means the when the bed lays out on the newly painted frame (satin black rustolium) there will be a nice clean red stripe just above the wheels from the cab to the tailgate!!

using Rustolium means a clean easy CHEAP way to keep it up. the bottom takes alot of abuse from tire splash and dirt regular power washing will keep it clean ( well as it can be) when it starts to look shabby I can buy another $8 quart of paint and fresh'n it up

now back to work since I need to get it done and dry by 5 pm sunday night when I roll out to work a few nights!!

And by the way I wrestled that tire on the rim this morning ( acually went on easy) tried to fill it the hard way with lots of air and wiggling finally broke down and did it...well...POP and it was on....and no singed hair either.......

Honestly, not much on the C15's. Just enought to be dangerous. Is it a compund turbo or single turbo engine?

Re: Added to the fleet today (Project Rock'n Roll)

Holy RED!!!

well it layed out good 3/4 gallon of paint and 1/2 gallon of thinner....hopefuly it will get a bit darker as it dries or at least dirty a bit ...I'll have to step back later after my eyes see something besides red!! But I love the line when its down....funny but it glows and makes the tires have a red tint to them...lmao
