gauge swap
just curious if i were to get a cluster out of another vehicle say a 80's suburban that has gauges for volt, coolant, fuel, and oil and mine has the wonderful light that pops on when a problem can i swap and it plug and play work so to speak

No ...you will have to modify your wiring and install oil and temp senders in the engine.
Not hard to do ,especially if you keep the plug and wiring that came with the gauge cluster. |

Yea its not that hard to do. I have done it before or just gone to aftermarket cause I hate the stupid dummy lights haha! If you have access to the wiring harness with the other cluster just pull it and modify it to work

I swapped a '73 cluster into an '84 with idiot lights before. I ended up just wiring up the gauges manually, and the oil pressure gauge was mechanical so not that big of a deal Other than that the fuel gauge worked with the '84.
I used a 9 volt battery to figure out how the gauges pinned out then ran wire to the senders/voltage.
