New windshield for 60-63 "knee knockers"
Anyone out there found a place that sells new glass for the wrap around 60-63 c10 that is just a plain clear glass? All I have seen so far is green tinted or with a shaded band at the top from places such as brothers and lmc. Any other distributors I am missing that has a plain jane windshield. Not too worried about the cost either, expecting it to be about $400, I just want it brand new. Thanks.

Re: New windshield for 60-63 "knee knockers"
I bought mine through a local glass shop, and I'm almost certain it's clear. I just insisted on a "Pilkington" branded windshield and they came up with one. Before the mid 80's, Libbey-Owens-Ford (LOF) was the best name in auto glass and they later became Pilkington.
Be very cautious about the blended windshields. Many come from Argentina and are much thinner than original specifications. They tend to leak because the cavity in the gasket was made for a thicker piece of glass, and the thin glass won't seal well without a lot of sealer being added. Also they often carry the blending so far down from the top it interferes with forward vision. I bought one years ago at a bargain price and ended up giving it away, when I discovered the problems it was going to cause. |

Thanks for the info. You don't happen to have a part number for the pilkington glass that fits the 60-63 c10? I am really looking for the complete clear glass so hopefully this is what I am looking for. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: New windshield for 60-63 "knee knockers"
Here is all the information that is etched on my windshield:
Pilkington DOT 177 M52 DW587 LNSG And then there’s a random A and L off by themselves. From the way it’s laid out it seems the part number might be the DW587. I can’t swear it’s clear because I’m color blind and it’s hard for me to detect windshield tint unless it’s in bright sunlight, but it looks clear to me when viewed through the sides compared to an open window. I just realized this is your first post. Welcome to the forum! Good luck on your hunt. |

Got the one for my 60 in Espanola installed for around $200. Not sure of brand, but no problems.

Re: New windshield for 60-63 "knee knockers"
The local glass guys quoted 250 installed. would have been 200 but I have the window trim and they say it's a lot of work to put it in.
