1980 trans crossmember

I have a 1980 chev fleetside shorty that I am redoing. It has a smallblock 350 with a 4 speed trans. I was under it the other day and could not believe what was supporting my transmission. It is some mickey welded up piece of shyte that I am definitely going to change out. My question is what are the differences ( if any ) between a 4 speed crossmember and and automatic crossmember. I have been trying to find one up here in Canada but no luck so far. Where can I get one?

Thanks

Rick
