67 Finally back on the road! *pics*

After much tinkering and head scratching, I finally got my 67 running, for the first time in nine years The timing was 20 degrees advanced and it smoked like crazy, but I soon got that sorted out. The distributer didn't want to budge, but after a lot of Liquid Wrench and some gentle tapping it broke free! I drove it in the fields and a bit on the road, it feels so good. When it was put away nine years ago, it would run a bit and then die. Well, still does the same thing. I'm thinking it's the voltage regulator? since it's not charging the battery as it's running, loosing juice. All other wires look good. I'm off to check it, any other ideas? I can't wait to get it on the road, pics to come

Hey I was thinking about driving my truck down to Bethleham someday to show a friend who hasn't seen it yet. Maybe if your not busy we could meet up and show off our rust .

I went out and bought a voltage regulator for $22, still no fix. I'll pull the alternator and check it tomorrow My wife and I just went out to celebrate "the rebirth" of the truck. I've been ear to ear grins since this morning
Haywagon, I'd like to get together this weekend to show off our rust, but I'm going away this weekend. In a few weeks we'll have to get together. Anybody else in the Northeast?

It's always better to have a running truck than a rusting pile of parts.

Re: 67 Finally back on the road!

I scored two dogdish caps from a friend and painted them with a rattlecan, then handplainted in the red. They turned out pretty nice. I've been doing little things on the truck here and there, but now that I'll be getting a new truck to use around the farm, I can tackle more involved projects with the '67. I'm looking for a hood and tailgate, since a family member (not me) managed to gently roll it under the back of a flatbed trailer and put a nice crease in the hood.
I'm amazed to see this old thread up, I must get some new pics up, the truck looks a lot better now.

I'm at work right now, I'll get the pics up tomorrow. I occasionally even drive it to work (I'm an elementary school teacher) and it always gets lots of looks and comments (usually negative, but I don't care)

Re: 67 Finally back on the road!

6 years later, the motor looking (and running) much better than before, a few cosmetic upgrades. Next to come will be the hood (smashed under a flatbed, I wasn't driving it) tailgate and cab corners. I haven't accomplished nearly what I've wanted to since getting it back on the road 6 years ago, but I've been driving it often

Unfortunately that's about all it's been so far, aside from rebuilding the motor. It's been a driver all along, now that I'm getting a new truck, I can take the time to do the bodywork on the '67.

I'm looking for another hood, I'd be quite happy to find a better hood in the green for now, eventually I will get around to the bodywork and repaint, same color.
