Re: reading spark plugs?
if you are tuning for nitrous you should get new ones.

Re: reading spark plugs?
It's always best to start with new plugs because trying to identify the fire ring on the porcelain and also on the ground strap is going to be difficult because the old marks can't really be removed.

Re: reading spark plugs?
Only way I can see is if you have one of the old plug blasters. (havent seen one in many decades) They would literally sand blast the plug and remove all evidence of anything.
Proper way to read your tuneup...... http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/MTXL.php You can't beat this for price and function. You can burn a box of plugs, a barrel of fuel and still not have your tune as quick and easy (and maybe not as cheap) as with a WB O2

at least I'm not the only one . Were just big enough to admit it Kevin. The thing about this getting 'more experienced' I really dislike is that when your young the world is a new and wonderfull place,, life constantly 'GIVING' you new and wonderfull things (puberty, knowledge, education, experience, love bla bla bla bla) Once we have accumilated all this knowledge and experinece,, life becomes a ***** and starts 'TAKING' things away,,,, cartlidge, mobility, hair, MEMORY, the ability to sleep all night without having to get up 3 times to pee,,,,, Running a nitrous motor I'm sure that was a handy thing to have!!! With race plugs running $5 each it's hard to consider them a $40 'consumable' for every pass. I ran a N20 small block for a while and would take 3 sets of plugs with me to the track. I always searched the swapmeets and yard sales for one,,, how great was having one of those!!!

Re: reading spark plugs?
I haven't used it to clean my racing plugs I just usually buy new ones. Unless you are tuning the cylinders different you could just put a couple of fresh plugs in. I'll have to take a picture of the plug cleaner.

Re: reading spark plugs?
wow $23 from JC Whitney. I had no idea there even still sold the small ones.
http://www.jcwhitney.com/spark-plug-.../p2004266.jcwx One I remember from a service station I worked in (circa 1970 when there was REAL 'service' in stations) was a Autolite,, free standing cabinet. Had a media blast for cleaning and a rapid fire coil with a gauge that measured the plugs resistance. Really 'hi-tec' stuff for 1970 LOL

Re: reading spark plugs?
Don't feel too old guys, as I have one of the spark plug cleaner/blasters as well. We use to use them all the time when doing tune up/driveability work at the Cadillac dealer. This was circa 1989-1990, so you guys are not too old.....hehe. Paul
