Shift indicator repair?

I have a replacement indicator to install and want to unplug the fiber optic at the indicator...can it be done? I dont want to brake anything. This will replace a loose, barely hanging on indicator. I want to leave the working fiber optic and just replace the indicator...any tricks or cautions?

The indicator I pulled from the "donor" the cable was pinched off at sometime.
Do I just grab the cable with needle nose and pull?

Re: Shift indicator repair?

It's been a while since I replaced mine, but it was very easy. Kind of hard to describe, but if you slide the orange indicator out of the housing, you will see that the optic pops out with just a little manipulation.

Re: Shift indicator repair?

So the red/orange portion will seperate from the black portion...is this correct? Then I should be able to remove and replace the optic cable end.
I'll give it a try when I get home tonight....Thanx!
