Question Brake conversion for 65 C10

I need assistance in my attempt to convert my 1965-C10 Ch Panel front brakes system from the 6 lug drum brakes to a 6 lug dics only using the spindle where it attaches to the upper and lower ball joints. I now have the lower "A" arm disconnected (at the "U" bolts) from cross member.
I would like to use any 73-87 setup to attach to the "A" arm, (using existing "A" arm, if possible)
I called a couple of suppliers and they want around $1,000 to $1,500 for conversion of my spindles to disc spindle or cross member change over.
Also, I beat the crap our of my lower ball joint and it will not come out of the spindle housing, maybe I'll not have to reuse these spindle housings???
All true knowledge is appreciated but if you don't know what I should do here then don't say, I FRUSTRATED ENOUGH AS IS WITHOUT ANY MORE HELP? Thanks for listening to and old dog howl....

Re: Brake conversion for 65 C10

LowCountry,
Here is an option from CPP for $699. Includes new 73-87 spindles and is available stock or lowered ride height and in 5 or 6 lug. Caution it will not fit stock 65 steelies. But most disk applications won't anyway and you probably already know that if you're doing this.

Here's a similar option from POL for $629: http://www.performanceonline.com/196...d-6-LUG-16671/

If you were keeping the old style ball joints you could use this for:
$599 from CPP: http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...062SWBK5OE.htm

I'm assuming the quotes you received for >$1000 included the master cylinder and booster - so if you already have those, you could use the above spindle kits and get r dun for around $600-$700. If you don't have those parts yet, then you could source them yourself with off-the-shelf parts from a local auto parts store. The nice thing about the kits is that they bolt right in. But also note that an OReily's booster and master cylinder for a 75 Impala (for example) will work just fine (and you can use Captain Fab's mounting bracket to install it (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=347484) and still get it all done for well under $1K. I would not go to the junk yard for a booster - maybe for a master cylinder though if you're really trying to save bucks.

Hope that helps.

Re: Brake conversion for 65 C10

Here is a thread that should answer all your front disc brake questions. If you aren't looking for dropped spindles, just use the '71-'87 stock spindles. For the 6 lug rotors, you will have to get those from either CPP or ECE. There is a way to get 6 lug discs with factory parts, that is described in the thread I linked to below.
